Social networking for law librarians and friends of law libraries

This might be a little early to start the topic, but there you go. I'm opening the floor to discuss privacy issues to consider and potential non-friendly activities on social networks and how to counteract them. Also proper etiquette. Thanks! Lyo.

I always advocate people read the fine print re: privacy for their social networks and decide what their comfort level is, how open they want to be.

We should also realize younger people tend to be willing to give up some privacy in exchange for sharing/collaboration. They have a very different mind-set than we do.

That being said, there are certain pieces of information we might take care not to mention online. I tend not to talk about family members, where exactly I live (well, you know I'm in Toronto!), and my birth date since that is a piece of the identity puzzle.
