I've found the Xobni tool to be pretty useful, but needs some further advancement. I gave it a review on my blog at 3 Geeks and a Law Blog.

Tip: As for the email applications, if you are an open source organization, some of the applications may not work if you use Scalix (for example ClearContext). As an open source person, I am still experimenting with the other applications.
