I know that a lot of our posts have been about McCain's VP choice. But what do you think of Biden? He has been criticized for being in the pocket of some of th e major credit card banks earning him the nickname Joe "Mastercard" Biden. He helped pass legislation that makes it more difficult for people to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Some liberals such as Ralph Nader have been critical of Obama's choice for VP.

Now those who know me know I'm a Hillary girl. But once the choice was made, I echo Bill: Obama hit it out of the park with his veep selection. This guy knows what it's like to be a single parent and commute. That says a lot to me. He seems to have good core values. Honestly, I don't know that much yet about his voting record, but for that I have to trust Obama. More to the point, I think Biden would make a good president if , god forbid, something were to happen to Obama. I think the Biden choice took away any notion that Obama was undertaking something that he is not experienced enough to do; with Biden in the wings, and with Biden's foreign policy experience, I think we'll be in good hands.

And being a woman, I have to add: I'd far more trust a widower who chose to eschew dating and instead commute from DC to Wilmington every night to raise his children, then some wanker ( McCain) who cheated on his wife while she was fighting cancer, and then left her for the mistress: a richer, younger, unscarred woman.
I was not aware of Biden's pro-credit card, anti-bankruptcy voting in the past. I can't say that it thrills me. On the other hand, one would be hard pressed to find any experienced politician who hasn't voted for stuff like this in his/her past. Most of them compromise and negotiate in order to get their favorite legislation passed.
He seems like a pretty good person, as a person. His voting record neither impresses or outrages me. It seems pretty typical.
Obama picked him, no doubt, because he seemed to create a balance. He is seen as more mainstream (conservative) than Obama. He is seen as a reliable, experienced statesman.
