Katie Brown's Blog

Blogging on friday... is it a good idea?

I was at the management institute and I described myself as a pseudo- blogger to someone in my group. He thought it was kind of witty and asked what I meant by the title. For some people blogging is something they are compelled to do. They want to share their thought online for everyone and in some case feel a part of them is lacking when they find themselves in a situation where they are unable to blog. For other people, they are very aware of blogging and in our profession it is now almost… Continue

Gen X Gen Y Members Rock On

Last night, I saw a draft of the soon to be released Gen X Gen Y Newsletter. As I flipped through the PDF I was so proud of what the members of the working group had accomplished. In fact what all the working groups have been able to do this year. The Gen X Gen Y Caucus was not started by me it was someone elses vision that I took over when she could no longer be the head of the caucus. Yet,I feel like the caucus is "my baby" and that I have slowly been watching it grow up, take it's first… Continue

my musings on the challenge of balancing work/proffesional development/getting involved and life

I recenlty attended two conferences back to back and when I returned I was confronted with a pile of work. What I can I have been bringing home to work on. This isn't asked of me by my boss. Actually, I think they would like it if I didn't bring it home. The administration is great and very pro keep your work at work. But it gets me thinking that If I didn't bring some of the work home then it becomes one more thing added to the pile for the next day. Then there is the Snag of what is work? I… Continue

Spring Break: a Time for Projects at the Bottom of the Pile

It is Spring break once again and a hush falls over the law library. I have a few diehard student still studying in the library. I am sure you have these students at your school they are the one who come it 9:00 AM to study over break instead of standing at the door at 7:30 AM when we open. You have to love the diehard student they are usually the first ones to sing the librarians praises to anyone who will listen. We also have a few maintenance folks coming in out on various projects. For the… Continue

I couldn't help but notice your Gen X / Gen Y Caucus tee shirt image -- there is now a subgroup for Caucus members at http://lawlibraries.ning.com/group/genxgenycaucusaall , in case you're interested in joining. And, of course, feel free to spread the word.

Hello! Usually corn (two varieties), heirloom tomatoes, pumpkins (three varieties), cucumber, squash, and herbs.
P.S. I have seen your Cyberpiracy book in my search for my class syllabus materials. I am ordering a review copy. Vandeplas Publishing has recently become one of my favorite publishers.

This is like the freakin' Twilight Zone. You commented on my page on May 16, with me having no idea who the heck you were. Then at AALL, I couldn't help but run into you.

It was nice to meet you and attend the Gen X/Gen Y Caucus. And, it's nice to put faces with names.
