Wow--this room is filling up fast. I hope people will use the forums (fora?) to talk about those pressing issues. And, we're hoping to use the meebo chat room for some scheduled talks but it is also available for informal chats.
What a great place to seek support and advice from our colleagues! Thanks to Jim Milles for creating this space for us.
Okey doke, I'll try the PBWiki. And I'm just checking who's online when I'm online. BTW, that's another feature it would be neat to have. A way of sorting by who's online. As the number of members grow, it'll be easier to see who's online if you could sort by that status.
Too bad! Jim has now loaded PBWiki onto the front to see if that will work. I can't seem to get it to, but that could be because I am on a macbook. Do you want to give it a try?
Yes, the plan is to have the chats scheduled in advance. Would be nice if email can be sent, at least to start until people get used to looking at a schedule page.
The meebo chat room I believe is "public" in that other people signed in from the meebo site can also go into the room. Which is why you see 3 people on our network but, say, 10 people in the chat room.
I'm curious to know how you are checking online patterns. Just looking it frequent intervals?
Hi Connie! I double-checked and I definitely can't edit the Notes page, so I think I might need admin privileges or perhaps the permissions need to be changed to allow everyone to use that feature? Anyhoo, I'm been checking out the online patterns here (what? it's related to my privacy question...:-)), and it seems as if most of the time, no more that two or three folks are online at the same time. If the green Online button is to be believed. Also, the meebo page seems to indicate folks are online when they're not necessarily logged in (there must be a cookie involved). So, I think if we arrange chats, we can't assume network members will see the announcement about the chat. I think they'd either need the announcement on the page way in a advance or, best, get e-mail announcements re or get the info someway where they're guaranteed to see it? I don't know if Jim can send out group messages in some way that reaches everyone directly. Cheerio, Lyo.
