Last night, I saw a draft of the soon to be released Gen X Gen Y Newsletter. As I flipped through the PDF I was so proud of what the members of the working group had accomplished. In fact what all the working groups have been able to do this year. The Gen X Gen Y Caucus was not started by me it was someone elses vision that I took over when she could no longer be the head of the caucus. Yet,I feel like the caucus is "my baby" and that I have slowly been watching it grow up, take it's first steps and begin to run all on its own. As a groups, we took our first steps when we addressed why we existed and created a mission and bylaws that reinforces that existence. Next, we took some more steps and created a list of projects we wanted to acomplish and began working on them. Now, the caucus is at a run. We are now seeing what the hard work and dedication put into this group by its members can give back to the caucus and the whole proffesion. This year, we will have our first elections for a vice- chair/chair elect and treasurer/secretary. Although, I will still be chair for another year, I know I am soon going to need to let go of the reins and hand them to someonelse. I wonder if this is how a parent feel about thier teanager. There is always a point when working on anything that you must let it go and all you can do is watch as it contimues on its journey. In a little over a year, I will do that with Gen X Gen Y and I can't wait to see all the places the Caucus will go!
